Introducing the Gulae Mahmood Middle School

We have some exciting news!!

On Gulaeā€™s 26th birthday, the Sophia Mahmood Ali Foundation is honored to announce that in staying true to our mission, we have adopted a middle school in the Munirabad Village in the flood-stricken Muzaffargarh District in Pakistan. Named after our love and inspiration behind the foundation, it will be named Gulae Mahmood Middle School. Yearly, the school will provide opportunities to around 130 children free of cost— children who would otherwise have no access to formal education. 

The school will provide breakfast and lunch to all students, school supplies and textbooks.  Currently, there are 2 teachers on staff and our goal is to continue to make that number grow. The estimated budget to run the school is roughly $40,000 annually. To all our family and friends, we hope to make this a sustainable vision so children from that area can continue to change their future and we need your help!! Every penny donated in celebration of Gulae’s birthday will go directly in the funding of the school and we encourage you all to continue with us on our journey!

Thank you Rally Donors

We really appreciate the love and support from the very beginning and we promise to use the funds we have received for good in this world. Here is an overview of what we’ve accomplished so far.

A place of worship, built in Sophiaā€™s name, was erected in a refugee camp outside of Chittagong, Bangladesh for the Rohingya population fleeing genocide in Myanmar. The Mosque is open 24 hours a day to provide shelter and clean drinking water for those in need. Throughout the day, educational classes and the five daily prayers are held.Ā 

The first soul venture by the SMA Foundation is called Project24 & Beyond. We chose Gulae’s favorite number (24). We will be sponsoring the education of as many young girls as possible from impoverished areas worldwide who previously did not have access to education. The mission of this project is to fulfill one of Sophiaā€™s passions in empowering young women to follow their dreams by providing them with access to a formal education. With this initiative, we hope to create hope for these individuals and encourage them to follow their educational pursuits regardless of monetary means. We currently have about 24 girls.
